I imagined Philip early in the morning in Horta, 

preparing the boat for his final leg to Falmouth. 

Green is an unlucky colour for a sailor. 

The clouds are like creatures guiding him to his fate. 

The reflection of the new moon, and of himself, 

have turned green and there is a sea snake 

urging him out to sea
